When should I schedule my session?

In order to ensure a quality experience with each client, we limit the number of sessions available on a monthly basis.  Clients are recommended to book as early as possible to ensure availability.  Newborn shoots are scheduled prior to delivery based on due-date and adjusted as needed — we prefer to photograph newborns within the first 3-10 days of life.

Where should our session take place?
Sessions can take place in our Franklin, NC studio or on-location, utilizing natural light both indoors & outdoors. We can shoot at your home, the park, downtown, you name it. Take a look through our portfolio or blog to see if there’s a location that you like, or we’d be happy to suggest or scout a location that would work best for you.  Newborn shoots are conveniently captured in our studio.

What should we wear for our session?
Textures, layers & elements of color add depth & interest to a photo.  If more than one person is in the shoot, it’s best to coordinate, but not match.  Classic looks & solid colors are generally recommended, however certain patterns & accessories can be fun and add a unique feel to the image.  No one individual should stand out from the others.  We’ll be happy to discuss any questions you may have regarding your wardrobe.  Some recommended retailers include Anthropologie, Gap, Garnet Hill, J.Crew, Ruche, & Tea Collection.  And you can always check out past blog posts for additional what-to-wear ideas.

I really want to book a photo shoot, but I want to drop a few pounds first, or cut my hair first, or…
Okay, so I realize this isn’t a question, but really, I hear this all the time! Stop it. Seriously, your children aren’t going to look back at old photographs and say, “gosh, Mom sure should have styled her hair differently,” or, “man, she really would have looked better if she lost another five pounds.” Nope. Sure, we all wish we could change something about ourselves, but don’t let these treasured years slip through your fingers unrecorded just because you don’t want to get in front of the camera. Rest assured, I will help guide your poses and use flattering angles, and you’ll be so glad you did it!

How long will our session last?
Sessions are never rushed and generally last between 1-2 hours leaving time for snacks, breaks, and/or outfit changes. Newborn sessions typically last about three hours to allow plenty of time for feedings and comforting. Of course the only exception to this are our Anytime Mini Sessions, in which we allot 20 minutes.

How can I ensure my kids have a great experience?
Our portrait sessions are like a play date (or hanging out for the older kids), and we’ll make sure your shoot falls during a time when your children won’t be hungry or groggy from a nap. Be excited and talk up your session prior to your shoot; you know, like you do before Grandma comes to visit.  By them time she arrives your kids are bursting with excitement.  By treating your photo shoot the same way, your kids will most likely be excited too.

What if it rains?
If weather is looking crummy, we’ll be happy to reschedule.

What’s the best time of day for my photo shoot?
Newborn shoots are typically scheduled between 9-10 am.  Outdoor shoots are usually scheduled 1-2 hours after sunrise or before sunset based on what’s best for your family and the location that’s chosen.

What types of products do you offer?

It’s great to be thinking about how you’re going to display your images! We offer an array of beautiful, high quality products that have been selected for their craftsmanship & archival qualities. Are you wanting a breathtaking focal point for the living room? We’ve got you covered with gallery wrapped canvases, archival prints & unique framing options. Want something to adorn your coffee table? You might like our session boxes or one of our luxurious albums. Needing gifts? We have accordion mini-books (shown below) and cards. There are so many options & we’ll be happy to help you make a selection that’s right for your space & needs.

Can I purchase the digital files?
Digital files are a wonderful keepsake and are a great way to insure your product investment by providing you with a backup should anything ever happen. We offer a Digital Collection including full-resolution files of all the proofed images from your session as well as 20 mounted 5×7 prints displayed in a beautiful, custom made image box. This collection can be added to any of our other collections at a discounted rate. Additionally, digital files can be purchased individually after a $300 print/product minimum has been met.

Can I scan and/or make copies of my prints?
Unfortunately not. All images are protected by Federal Copyright Law. Scanned, copied, or otherwise reproduced images are both illegal and a degradation of the original image quality. However, if you purchase any digital files, a print reproduction license will be provided and reputable consumer labs will be recommended to ensure your prints look stunning.

Will images from my session be posted to Facebook?
Only with your permission. Most clients love showing off their images to their friends, and we’ll even create a snazzy, custom cover image for your profile page, included with every session.

What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash & check as well as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.  Payment is due in full upon ordering.

Can I purchase additional prints or products later?
Yes. Purchased images remain on file for one year should you find that you need any additional prints or products within that time period.  Images that are not purchased, however, will be purged 30 days from the date your order is placed.
