It was a cool evening in Palm Beach County last month when I had the special treat of capturing Vicki with her horse, Emmanuel over in Loxahatchee, Florida. “E-man” was quite the character! He wanted to eat everything: the palm trees, Vicki’s sweater, my reflector… nothing we couldn’t handle, but he sure kept us laughing. What fun to capture the bond between the two of them.

Decoration Inspiration | Little Girl’s Room

This little girl’s bedroom just received an upgrade… mixing photographs and art, lots of color, and precious mementos, both old and new.

It’s a small space. Ditching the toddler bed, we only went up to a twin. The space is functional and sweet with room to add to it as she gets older, yet not feeling as if it lacks anything now.

Above the bed, we hung an Organic Bloom Double Stack frame (shape: Jessie, inner color: pink hydrangea, outer color: purple people eater) with an 18″x18″ artfully composed image from Rik-see Photography in soft colors to blend with the room.Signs Express made these color-coordinated canvas prints featuring one of our favorite hymns. Below those sit a tea light from her baby shower, sea shells from Florida, and a piggy bank from her auntie. The Russian nesting doll was one of my travel souvenirs from when I was a child, and I like how it incorporates the metal element we repeated throughout the room.
We snuck in this photo shoot with the girls Noni and Popi last trip to Florida (above). Tucked on the side walls are a book rack from The Land of Nod and this 1.5″ thick Gallery Wrapped Canvas from Rik-see Photography:

High School Senior Photos

As a large part of their grade, the local high school here in Franklin, NC requires all 12th graders to do a “Senior Project” where they choose a subject focus and a local business person to mentor from. I was honored this year when Sarah chose me! Over the past few months, I’ve enjoyed getting to know this chica, and I could not be more proud of how far she’s come along in her photography. The school year is wrapping up and her project will be due soon, but a couple weeks ago, we decided to do a photo shoot of HER!

She’s such a fun girl! Beautiful smile. Sweet personality…

Wishing you all a beautiful and blessed holiday! My New Years resolution #1: get our family photos taken… by someone else. This last minute family photograph we took with our trusty tripod and remote, but I envy a home filled with more of these. Funny how I have so many pictures of our children without me in them, but this is soon to change! Anyone else making New Years resolutions?

Farm Life

It’s been an exciting few days for Dutchmen Farms here in Franklin, North Carolina, with three baby calves born in just five days. I went over Tuesday afternoon after the first one, Tessa, was born. She had arrived that morning and was less than a day old — exciting stuff for the young Zuiderveen family.

Inspiration Through Art: God Made You Special

We are honored to now be a part of Inspiration Through Art, an amazing organization offering free photo sessions to children with disabilities or suffering from a serious illness. Inspiration Through Art is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 offering not only free photo sessions for the child and their family through the participating photographers, but also offers snail mail support letters, cards, and other gifts sent to the child through their “Mission Inspire” program. All of these services are completely free to the participants as a way of giving back to the smallest of heroes.

One of my favorite things about this job is helping someone see their own beauty for the first time, and my hope is that these children will be able to see their photos and know that God made them special in spite of their situation, and He loves them very much.

Meet my two new assistants, Kate & Nicole. They had me cracking up as they egged on their dad to smile for the camera at their family’s session. I think I’d like to take them along on every shoot! LOL!
