*S* Family :: Photo Shoot Preview

This family sure knows how to brave the weather!  A cold front swept through the night before, but the rain had stopped and they were still happy keeping their session date… not to say we weren’t reminiscing about the Florida sunshine. 🙂

Enjoy your preview, *S* Family!

Foto Friday 42/52 | Hello Kitty

Guess who’s turning 4? Olivia got an early birthday present from Grandpa & Grandma, her very first big-girl bike! Yes, it’s Hello Kitty, of course. 🙂  You may remember last year’s Safari Party, a birthday party for all the grandkids born in the fall (since there are six birthdays in just a matter of weeks).  Well, this year we did something similar, except it was a Hawaiian theme, hence the early birthday present.  Thank you, Grandpa & Grandma!

Vegas Recap

For those of you who keep up with my facebook page, you know that I recently went to Las Vegas, NV for a one-on-one mentoring session with the incredibly talented Kelsey of Kelsey Anderson Photography. I was thrilled! I’ve been following Kelsey’s work since shortly after she got started, and am inspired by how quickly she has grown, not to mention how beautiful her work is! I have to admit I was a little intimidated hopping on a plane by myself, going to Las Vegas nonetheless, but the excitement far outweighed the intimidation.

Mentorship day was great, nonstop, encouraging & fun!  Kelsey talked fast, and a lot! She had ‘models’ lined up for shooting in the morning & the evening and we conversed & ‘talked shop’ over indulgent food like Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. Nom, nom! She had me this close to switching over all my gear to Nikon, but, eh, she’s still working on that one! 😉 Anyways, here are a few shots I took during our morning shoot:

Our evening shoot was where I learned the most. Always making the light work for us, we shot in a parking lot, underneath a parking garage, in front of a chain-link fence… all places that prior to mentoring from Kelsey, I would have never chosen to place a client. Turns out, these are my favorite images from the day:
I love learning and growing and improving my art, and I believe there will always be room to do so…at least that’s my hope, for those are the moments that help feed the passion & joy in doing what I do.  Thank you, Kelsey, for being willing to share your talent with others and for a wonderful & inspiring day!

wow, Jodi, these pictures are amazing! (as usual!) I’m glad you had a great time in Vegas. We should go to Vegas for a girls weekend sometime. You know, since we’re so wild and crazy 🙂
